The Jump Cut, Chuck Kleinhans, and Julia Lesage Collection

The collection contains all of the issues of the publication, Jump Cut, which was founded by John Hess, Chuck Kleinhans, and Julia Lesage and published its first issue in 1974. It was conceived as an alternative publication of media criticism—emphasizing left, feminist, and LGBTQ perspectives. It evolved into an online publication in 2001. The collection also contains a large amount of additional work by Lesage and Kleinhans.

DESCRIPTION
Jump Cut was founded as a print publication by John Hess, Chuck Kleinhans, and Julia Lesage in Bloomington, Indiana, and published its first issue in1974. It was conceived as an alternative publication of media criticism—emphasizing left, feminist, and LGBTQ perspectives. It evolved into an online publication in 2001, bringing all its back issues with it.

The collection also contains a large amount of work by Julia Lesage and Chuck Kleinhans. This includes their teaching and research materials, published and unpublished essays, conference papers, and, film and video work.
